Client profile

Featured three times on Channel 4’s Grand Designs, Carpenter Oak & Woodland is the UK’s leading provider of bespoke timber-framed buildings.

“Having worked with Labrow Marketing on a previous project and been extremely pleased with the outcome, they were the obvious choice when looking for a partner to help us develop a website that would lead our industry. I believe Peter Labrow is one of a very rare breed of people who have the ability to grasp an understanding of a business and its market and convert that into common sense and pragmatic marketing collateral that really works. His deep understanding of how search engines operate and how people use the Internet, combined with his sound marketing experience, have resulted in a website which is nothing short of a triumph. I simply could not recommend Labrow Marketing highly enough.”

Transforming the volume of Web-based sales enquiries for a leading timber-framing company.

Carpenter Oak & Woodland approached Labrow Marketing to create a new website to take their Web presence to a whole new level. The previous site performed very poorly in search engines (almost all of its pages were not even indexed on most search engines) and was not delivering a meaningful level of enquiries.

Labrow Marketing proposed an extensive, content managed website – which would enable Carpenter Oak & Woodland to edit almost all of their website content, without having to learn HTML.

In addition to the pages that position Carpenter Oak & Woodland’s services, the site includes photo galleries of completed projects, news and blogs (which provides a more informal forum for the business to write about current building and timber-framing trends). The site also has an extensive portfolio, recording Carpenter Oak & Woodland’s many appearances in print and on television. There are detailed case studies and a substantial library of resources aimed primarily at architects and timber engineers.

A rapid and accurate search facility enables visitors to find what they want quickly, and the home page uses Flash animation to show a rolling series of completed timber-framed buildings.

Labrow Marketing even edited down a television programme covering Carpenter Oak & Woodland’s recreation of a Roman war machine, adding music and posting it to You Tube (as well as adding it to the Carpenter Oak & Woodland website) to reach a wider audience.

The site has been a great success. It performs well within search engines and increased the percentage of sales enquiries that came from the website (compared to other routes) from 4% to 40% – in the first year.

This website was developed in partnership with Bawden Quinn Associates, which provided the technical development for the content management system and the integration with QA’s training management system.
